From Burnout to Balanced
If you’d met me a few years ago, you’d have found a woman running on caffeine, stress, and sheer willpower. I was a primary teacher who loved the kids but was slowly losing myself in a system that felt heavier every year. Chris was a golf pro working across different clubs, coaching, travelling, and juggling long days that never seemed to end. We were both exhausted — physically, mentally, emotionally.
Our home life reflected it. Family time meant a film on the sofa with laptops open, half‑watching, half‑working. Our house felt cluttered, our minds felt cluttered, and our days blurred into one long to‑do list. We weren’t living — we were just getting through.
Something had to change. And honestly, it changed in the most unexpected way.
I stumbled into Feng Shui during one of those late‑night “there has to be a better way” moments. I didn’t expect it to become such a turning point, but it did. I trained as a Feng Shui Consultant, and once I started making small tweaks to our career and wealth areas, things shifted fast.
The house felt lighter. We felt lighter. Opportunities appeared out of nowhere. Finances moved in ways we didn’t expect.
It was like the energy in our home finally matched the life we wanted — not the life we were stuck in.
One of the biggest surprises was the opportunity to create our own candle studio. We love candles and crystals, but learning to make them intentionally — with clean waxes, gentle fragrances, and crystal energy — became something deeper.
It became therapy. It became creativity. It became a way to slow down.
Every candle we poured felt like a tiny reset button. Every crystal carried a purpose. Every scent felt like a breath out.
As we changed our home, our habits, and our energy, our whole family shifted with us.
We slept better. We argued less. Our days felt calmer. We had more time together — real time, not “laptops on knees” time. We even started doing meditation together, which still makes me smile because it felt so impossible before.
It wasn’t a big dramatic transformation. It was tiny, consistent changes that slowly rebuilt our life.

Once we started feeling better, we wanted to understand why. That curiosity led us deeper into the world of crystals, journaling, meditation, and eventually Reiki Level 1. These tools helped us process stress, reconnect with ourselves, and create moments of calm in days that used to feel chaotic.

My teaching career left me with stress and anxiety that lived in my body long after I left the classroom. Understanding the nervous system was a huge turning point. It helped me understand why burnout feels so heavy, why certain environments drain us, and why creating a calm home is essential — not a luxury.
This became one of the core pillars of Newbliss Living, because so many people are living in a constant state of fight‑or‑flight without even realising it.
